MCAT registration opens for Jan-June test dates: List of January-September 2020 MCAT Test Dates Plan to spend 4-6 months studying for all standardized tests (MCAT,DAT,OAT) and to take the MCAT by June 15, DAT by July 15 or OAT by the end of the summer.

Pre-Health Packet becomes available online for new and re-applicants.

First-time Applicant Deadline is March 23, 2020 at 4:30 p.m.
Re-Applicant Deadline is May 11, 2020 at 4:30 p.m.

Open veCollect account and begin collecting letters of recommendation. In addition, begin sending your official transcript to HPAO through TESTUDO. We will need this in order to complete your file review. You will also have to send a transcript to the application services, however. HPAO does not do that for you.



Attend relevant workshops sponsored by the Health Professions Advising Office and student organizations.


For dental applicants: should take the DAT no later than July 15 for best consideration.
For medical applicants: should take the MCAT no later than June 20 for best consideration. May or earlier is preferred.
*For optometry applicants: the OAT should be taken by July 15 for best consideration, check individual programs for variations.

Schedule mock interview with HPAO upon receiving an e-mail review from an HPAO advisor.


Mock interviews commence.

MAY 11

Re-Applicant deadline to submit a completed Pre-Health Packet for ALL professional programs; medical- allopathic/osteopathic, dental, optometry and podiatry.


AMCAS will open early May and go live for submissions early June.
AADSAS will open mid May and go live to submit applications early June.
AACOMAS will open early May and schools will begin receiving verified applications on mid June.
OPTOMCAS will open in July.
TMDSAS will open in May (application specific for medical and dental schools in Texas, except for Baylor College of Medicine).
AACPMAS will open in August.


Submit transcripts from all previously attended colleges/universities to the Common Application Service only after your spring grades have been posted. Utilize the Transcript Matching Form on each application service site.

HPAO does not forward transcripts at all.


HPAO moves to VERY limited walk-in hours just for current cycle applicants. Be aware of this and PLAN AHEAD!


For best consideration, HPAO recommends submitting application(s) to the common application service by this time.

In order to utilize the HPAO Committee Process, all applicants must manually release common application to the HPAO Advisor.

June 1

Due Date to submit letters of recommendation via veCollect.


Complete and submit secondary applications to schools within two weeks of receiving them.

As you complete secondaries, request that the HPAO forward your Committee Letter packet to schools by locking your veCollect Quiver and submitting a Letter Forwarding Form.


In order to guarantee a Committee Letter by August 15, the following items must be completed by this date:

  • All individual letters of recommendation must be uploaded to veCollect
  • Common application must be fully processed
  • Test scores must be submitted to the HPAO (June 20 testers will receive their scores July 21.)
  • Interview scheduled and conducted in a timely way

July 23

First attempt at MCAT or DAT must be made by July 23 to utilize the 2021 Committee Process. Retakes may be taken after this date.


Last date to schedule mock interview appointments for all those who met the May 11th deadline.


Last date to submit AMCAS, AACOMAS and AADSAS and still utilize the HPAO Committee Process.


Last date to initiate a letters forwarding request for 2021 applications.


Send fall transcript and updates to schools still considering your application (refer first to school-specific information concerning updates, as some schools do not acept them). See a health professions advisor if you have not heard from schools.



Update HPAO on your application status and any acceptances.
