Advising

The Reed-Yorke Health Professions Advising Office advisors offer a combination of appointments and walk-ins. Walk-in advising is held during specific times for each advisor. Students who come to walk-ins cannot also be holding an advising time on appointment-plus; coming to walk-ins will result in your existing appointment being canceled.

Please note, advising services are strictly for undergraduates, alumni, and Science in the Evening students at the University of Maryland, College Park. Post-bacc students who are not in SIE and graduate students who are not completing their basic sciences at Maryland are welcome to attend our public information sessions, but are not eligible for one-on-one advising or a Committee Letter.

Prospective students to the University of Maryland should contact Admissions for information.

Freshmen (MED/DENT/OPT/POD):

Freshmen interested in Medicine, Dentistry, Optometry, or Podiatry must attend a small-group advising session (offered during the fall and spring semesters) prior to seeing Meredith for one-on-one advising. Advance registration is required to attend. Confirmation and room location will be emailed to registered students at least one day prior to the session.

Nick advises Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors and Re-Applicants interested in Allopathic/Osteopathic Medicine, Dentistry, Optometry or Podiatry.

Wendy Loughlin

Wendy advises Juniors, Seniors and Alumni (First-time applicants) interested in Allopathic/Osteopathic Medicine, Dentistry, Optometry or Podiatry.

Meredith Laurie

Meredith advises students interested in the Allied Health fields (such as dental hygiene, medical technology, nursing, pharmacy, physician assistant, occupational therapy, or physical therapy), Alumni, Science in the Evening, and degree seeking post-bacc students.
